Hi Cris :
Thanks for the great summary, I completely agree with you about the use of periodization.
Comming from another continent we have other authors ( I know Bompas ideas )
Our guide lines of individual periodization where put together by Harre ( former DDR east germany ) and Werschonjansky ( UDSSR ) in the 1960 /70.
If you compare this with Bompa , than it sounds very similar. With all the personal expirience this people have.
Now here a short actual life story.
I prepare some athletes for the next Olympics and we have a guide linie, how we like to go about the goal. As Cris mentioned it is only a guide linie , but very often we change nearly daily the training contents , but not the adaptation goal.
I think the " plan " is important to see whether we get closer to our specific target in that special time of the year.
I may try to give a live info in the next few weeks , with plan , actual training and correction we try to do with one or the other athlete , if they agree.
As everybody can see , we are very strong in the theory ,
my porblem often is to put all this nice thoughts into practical application. This is the challange we have and which makes sport so interesting.
See you later.
