Excellent Point Herb, very salient. You are totally right.

It is interesting to know what the trainer wattage will produce on the road, it allows for field comparison. Ie: you wouldn’t want to believe your training indoors was achieving a power output that allows for 40klm/ hr on the road, then get out on the road in the spring only find that you can only go 35k, so there is some relevance when trying calibrate wattage through estimate and calculation.

The difference here is your calibration does not use a formula, it uses a real watts metre, which does not require a calculation for frontal mass.

Again, your are 100% correct. And there I was thinking I was so smart yakking about something that was actually irrelevant! Crow doesn’t taste too bad every now and then!
