Short introduction : I started on a selective group a research in the posibilities of improvements with using the Spiro tiger. The first case studies are finished and I will put it on our Website shortly. Problem : the datas are very positive and I need some more numbers from peole not knowing for the moment what I am looking for. (Basically a blind study ) So to any person intersted I need the info and numbers from the following protocol. Material needed. Your hometrainer on indoor trainer. / HR monitor and a watch. If you have a SO2 ( Oxygen saturation meter ) Protocoll . Day 1 . Do a very basic step tests. ( Using watts /speed or levels ) What ever units you will be able to repeat for later tests. Protocoll. Step 1 Start very easy , 3 min , count the breathing frequenzy in the last 30 secondes. Counting breath in , breath out as 1 breath. ( x 2 will be breath per minutes. And take your HR after the 3 min as well. Example. Step 1 100 watt/ 8 brath/30 " / 120 HR Now go every 3 min a step up as you would do in any step test protocol you would use. ( can be fact protocol or any other step test protocol. Go up to the limit if possible. Than sent me the numbers. 2 Days rest ( no hard training ) No to another step test but this time : Use a fixed Wattage , from the first test, wher you had a fixed breathing frequenzy . Example : 100 watt BF 8 120 w BF 8 140 8 160 BF 9 . Now you take the wattage from the second last number before you went up. In this example 120 watt. Now you do a step test . Example fixed 120 Watt. Step 1 : 60 RPM 3 min / last 30 seconds breathing freq. and HR at the end of 3 min. Step 2 still 120 HR but 70 RPM with again BF and HR step 3 120 watt but 80 RPM and so on till you fail. Example protocoll: 120 fixed watt . Step 1 60 RPM BF 6 HR 90 step 2 70 RPM BF 6 HR102 Step 3 80 RPM BF 7 HR 115 a.s.o. Sent the numbers and we will go in the next step. As you know , we are no instituation with a big name, so we can not afford to publish a " research " based on 6 participants. So I need 250 - 500 tests to get at least for us a trend in what may look like a very interesting wah of changing some quality of training. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Andrew thanks for the question. I am feeling bad not answering faster. I was really into doing some Spiro tiger research under pressure for Switzerland. I finished the blood tests today and it looks incredible interesting . We will be able to do IHT ( intermittend hypoxy training ) with this equipment as well. Program is ready to go and as soon I am back from europe I have another 500 - 1000 datas for the use of spiro tiger.
